I have been a user of the Suunto X9 for a couple of the years and I couldn’t resist snapping up a Suunto X10 as soon as it hit the market.  So far I am thrilled as Suunto seems to have corrected every short coming of the X9 with the release of the new Suunto X10.  The GPS on the Suunto X10 looks in seconds instead of several minutes which was my main complaint with the X9.

Really like the Suunto X10 Trek manager software that allows you to plot your course ahead of time and then you have the ability to leverage the GPS of the Suunto X10 to stay on course.  Pretty advanced concepts for such a small watch.  The integrated compass and barometer of the Suunto X10 are pretty handle and I like the ability to upload my route and overlay it on Google maps which makes for a pretty slick presentation to show friends and family.

So I just hooked myself up with the new Suunto X10 and so far so good.  I was a little nervous about buying the thing as I had read a bunch of reviews of the X9 that indicated that it took a long time to acquire a satellite signal.  So far so good and the Suunto X10 always seems to lock a signal in less than a minute which is expectable to me.  I have been in some pretty dense terrain that the Suunto X10 GPS still seems to hook up without a problem.  The ability to find waypoints without a map along with the trackback functionally are my two favorite features.  As you would expect the Altimeter, Barometer and Compass of the Suunto X10 are awesome as these are the features that Suunto Watches are known for.

I have had a Suunto X9i for years and finally decided it was time to upgrade when I say the Suunto X10.  My major complaint with the X9i was the short battery life.  The Suunto X10 does a much better job with this and the GPS on the Suunto X10 also seems to do much better when you are under the tree tops.  The track back functionality of the Suunto X10 is invaluable if you have spent a week in the woods and need to find your way out.  I highly recommend the Suunto X10
